WEBUCATION with Interactive Online Learning Channels

I have been involved in education for most of my working life and in my last 15 years of teaching I was headteacher of a unit for pupils who had been excluded from mainstream school or who were unable to attend school because they couldn't cope with the stresses that the school curriculum demanded of them.

The education system fails many of our young people and the number of teenagers who leave school not only with no qualifications but with out the basic literacy and numeracy skills, is rising every year. So what is happening to our schools??

From my own experience it would seem to me that schools are too results focused. They are expecting far too much of their pupils in the interest of league table. There is so much more to education than passing exams, and our children are being treated to a "one size fits all" system that is destined to failure for many.

Thankfully my experience of education was very different to the mainstream experience and we were able to offer our pupils small group tuition and even one to one tuition where appropriate. But it is hardly acceptable that the only children to received this privileged education are those who have either been excluded from school or are school refusers/phobic pupils.

We saw some extraordinary improvements not only in the behavior of these pupils but also the level of achievement. So how can this become readily available to more children and young people??

Private home tutoring has always been an option for parents who have been able to afford it. I have been involved in this myself and have seen pupils come on in leaps and bounds. But this can be very expensive for parents, and finding the right place for this sort of tuition can be problematic in an average size house with other children present.

Recently I have come across something that would seem to offer an excellent alternative. A company called Magnum IQ are currently beta testing a product that is described as Interactive Online Learning Channels. Basically one to one tutoring and individual homework help can be brought to your home via the internet for a fraction of the cost of offline private tutoring. Magnum IQ are also offering live lessons in all curriculum areas as well as sessions for adults in all manner of subjects. All of this will ultimately be available 24/7 no matter where in the world you live.

The current beta testers for this system are the representatives who have taken the plunge and are now not only having access to these live sessions but also are being paid to build their teams in readiness for launch of the program later this year.
